REAR VIEW MIRROR
It’s getting late – I probably should be going.
My skin’s on fire. You have no way of knowing.
I’m not okay. You can’t tell when you first meet me.
These demons stray and they are going to eat me.
I’m tired of running in circles,
Searching for something that’s not to be found.
I need someone to stop me
From digging this hole six feet in the ground.
All of the voices screaming at me.
But nobody ever seems to mind.
I’ll pack my baggage, heads towards the door,
And leave it all behind.
I’ll drive away.
Not sure in what direction.
I’ll drive away.
Chased by my own reflection.
Some of us run with daggers –
Looking for prey to rip and maul
Some of us run with scissors,
Looking for ways to trip and fall.
All of the voices screaming at me.
But nobody ever seems to hear.
I’ll pack my baggage, heads towards the door,
And finally disappear.
I’ll drive away.
Not sure in what direction.
I’ll drive away.
Chased by my own reflection.
I’ll drive away.
The past seems so much nearer.
I’ll drive away.
Lost in the rear view mirror.

BETTER DAYS
I remember - long ago.
We couldn’t wait to escape our homes.
We outgrew that one light town.
And their dreams held us down.
We took off once we turned 18
Swore we’d never live that scene.
But those memories were sweet – were sweet to me.
We were young. We were dumb.
We were only chasing fun.
From the moon, til the sun.
They were better days.
We were wild. We were free.
It was only you and me
And we swore we would see
Only better days.
We went and conquered what we saw.
And came back to show.them all.
Maybe it’s because we’re standing taller.
But this world seems a little bit smaller.
Our names and faces may have changed
And the old place doesn’t look the same.
But our memories remain - Those were the days.
This sudden synchonicity.
The stars aligned so perfectly.
Just me and you and you and me
Together all alone.
Staring out beyond the stars.
There had to be more than what we are.
There has to be more than what we are.
There has to be.

HEAVY
It must be hard for you to hear us,
With all that ringing in your ears.
While everybody talks about you –
All that praise you love to hear.
It must be hard for you to function,
With those people at your feet.
Waiting on your words to give them a purpose –
Waiting for their God to speak.
Heavy is the crown that’s worn.
Keep an eye on all those thorns.
I hope you’re having fun
In your kingdom of one.
It must be hard for you to travel,
With all those eyes on every move.
Every gesture is like putting on a show,
As if you have something to prove.
It must be hard for you to see us,
With all that blinding halo shine.
Who’s idea was it to let you think you own it?
I guarantee it wasn’t mine.
But your fictional reality
Isn’t what we really tend to see.
I hope you’re having fun
In your kingdom of one.
It must be hard for you to hear us,
With all that ringing in your ears.
While everybody talks about you –
All that praise you love to hear.
It must be hard for you to function,

CRAZY TRAIN
Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate
Mental wounds not healing
Life's a bitter shame
I'm going off the rails
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I've listened to preachers
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you live the role
Mental wounds still screaming
Driving me insane
I'm going off the rails
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words
Yeah
Heirs of a cold war
That's what we've become
Inheriting troubles I'm mentally numb
Crazy, I just cannot bear
I'm living with something' that just isn't fair
Mental wounds not healing
Who and what's to blame
I'm going off the rails
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate

CALL ME CALL ME CALL ME
I heard you got yourself in quite a jam this time.
It looks like you might need a little hand this time.
You’ve tried everything but life’s still in your way.
Let me introduce myself to you my friend.
I’m the one who can make all your troubles end.
You just give the word and I will save the day.
Can you see? I’m all you need.
Just call me, call me, call me…
I’ll be there.
I'm just looking for my own way out.
I'm the best, and that's without a doubt.
So take a breath and give a shout...
Can you see? I’m all you need.
Just call me, call me, call me…
I’ll be there.
Here we go! Let’s start the show.
Just call me, call me, call me…
I’ll be there.
Say my name - I'll be by your side.
I won't leave, even if you try....
Just call me, call me, call me…
I’ll be there.
I heard you got yourself in quite a jam this time.
It looks like you might need a little hand this time.

IN THE SHADE
In the shade, on a summer day.
The sun is bright, not a drop of rain.
We can look all around us
And wonder how heaven ever found us.
In the shade, on a summer day.
Sky is clear, not a touch of gray.
With a cold drink next to me -
There’s no place I’d rather be.
In the shade on a summer day.
In the shade on a summer day.
In the shade on a summer day.
The birds sing their songs, while the fawns play.
And the squirrels climb the trees
As the leaves whisper in the breeze
Side by side with my best friend.
I wish this moment will never end.
Tomorrow it might rain and pour
And this peace might float away.
No matter what the future has in store,
We’ll always have today.
In the shade, on a summer day.
The sun is bright, not a drop of rain.
We can look all around us
And wonder how heaven ever found us.
In the shade, on a summer day.

TONIGHT
Take my hand – Let me see that smile.
The one that finally stole my heart.
We’ll take a stroll down that crowded aisle,
And swear til death do us part.
I promise to be there for you,
If you promise to be here for me.
Why worry about the little things?
Do you want to dance with me tonight?
I’m gonna put my best dress on,
And you can wear that tie I like.
We’ll show the world our love is strong.
Do our best to get this right.
I promise to be there for you,
If you promise to be here for me.
Why worry about the little things?
Do you want to dance with me tonight?
Take my hand – Let me see that smile.
The one that finally stole my heart.

NOT A TRIP
You say you're not surprised at all -
I can't quite disagree.
This only seems to happen
Whenever you're with me.
The keys were here - I swear I had them.
This is looking pretty bad. When
Did that cop come up behind us?
How does this bad luck always find us?
Move quickly - I'll distract them.
You sneak out the back door.
We'll tear away from trouble -
The pedal to the floor.
It's not a trip until it falls...
It's not a trip until it falls...
It's not a trip until it falls apart
And then it feels like home.
They told us we were crazy
We must have been insane.
Why else would anybody
run into a hurricane?
The phone was here - I swear I had it.
This is looking pretty bad - It
Wasn't dark when we left town.
I think the plane is going down.
The cows were looking lonely
Who knew the fence was charged?
It's just a flesh wound only.
( Hey, we're living large )
It's like a scripted movie -
The punchline stinging through.
No matter how we try
The joke's on me and you.
You say you're not surprised at all -
I can't quite disagree.

THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL
She picked the best day to die
Everyone gathered with grim expectation
and dread that we could not hide.
And we all sat by her side
Watching each breath grow progressively slower
With the passing time.
The sadness, surrounding -
The madness of sounding
Shocked that we couldn't
Slow the hands of time.
After all this time -
As the clocks unwind.
We would come to find
That a hand so small
Held the greatest gift of all.
It was the wettest of days.
The heavens had opened - exchanging her soul for an endless rush of waves.
And we sat there and gazed -
Watching each moment expression
so slowly go draining from her face.
Light fading - each moment
Just waiting - Til she went
Venturing off to
Meet the great unknown.
Time has it's way of ripping assunder
All of the rocks that we have crawled under.
Forcing reunions, victories and blunders.
All get relived for the sake of each other.
She picked the best day to die.

THE SILENCE BETWEEN
It’s great to hear from you – it’s been a while.
I know that staying in one place is really not your style.
We have always had a bond unseen, but
Now the times when we connect are few and far between.
I’ve been waiting to hear from you for several days.
Maybe it’s just how the way things go.
Life gets in the way and slowly takes its toll.
Every round we last deals one more blow.
The more we’ve been around, the less we seem to know.
I’ve been waiting to hear from you for several weeks.
I can't wait for us to speak.
The Silence between – The silence between
Is deafening.
I saw you at the park the other day.
I wanted to stop by but I had nothing left to say.
In another life it would be okay,
But time has wedged between us and makes everything fell strange.
I’ve been waiting to hear from you for several months.
I thought I knew you once.
The silence between
Is all - I hear - It's the sound - I fear
Will take the place of every day
While I wait for things to change.
It’s great to hear from you – it’s been a while.
I know that staying in one place is really not your style.
