So Close

I was headed for happily ever after. Found a place where I belonged,

But instead found disaster. Something tragically went wrong.

I’ve been searching for the reason, but I cannot find a fault.

Everything was going so smoothly, but then it just stalled.

We were so close. We were so close. We were so close….

How did we get so far apart?

I don’t have much to give you, but I’ll offer this advice.

I wasn’t happy being with you, so don’t expect me to play nice.

All bets are off, so come out swinging. I know your weaknesses and you know mine.

We took that risk right from the beginning - That they’d get used as weapons in due time.

I thought this was forever, but

It’s looking more like never.
