Devil’s Advocate

I can still remember how you held the door for me that day -
I said, "Don't bother". You slammed it and you said, "Okay".
As if the war between the sexes was my personal crusade,
I tried to pull us closer by pushing you away.

You may think I'm foolish, but I'll blame it on my pride.
I can talk in circles, while you can speak in lines.
Maybe I'll be cruel to you or maybe I'll be kind.
I'd apologize, but I like messing with your mind.

I never said I was an angel.
I never said I was a saint.
I never said I was an angel.
I'm more like a Devil's Advocate.

I know it doesn't make much sense, but that's the way I am.
I am going to frustrate you because I know I can.
It's a test of wills, to see if you can take it,
And a constant challenge for me to break it.
